Goodwood Revival, 2018. Vintage all the way!

My second Goodwood Revival: this time the weather was perfect and I got to wear a bespoke vintage dress made for me by The Emperor’s Old Clothes, in my home town Brighton. So come with me and my friend Dalia to see more on the dress and what else we got up to during our glamorous day at Goodwood………

I was especially pleased that I’d chosen a pretty blue and pink theme when I bumped into a chap at Chichester Station also sporting pink and blue for the special day. Brighton folk tend to be colourful! The trip to Goodwood by vintage bus reminded me and my friend Dalia of our school days.

Back story: first stop was to meet Sara Delaney of Notes from a Stylist because she was with me, along with her camera, from the birth of my hand made vintage dress and hadn’t seen the finished product. What I especially loved about the fittings with Cecily was trying out different accessories and hair styles before the big day. The last thing you need in the morning of a big event is deciding the dress must have a beehive! I also tried various glasses and wish I could have worn the blue ones below on the big day but it was way too bright. Shoes-wise, I went for comfort in the end.

Next stop for me and Dalia was to have a cocktail or a coffee. Preferably both! The bar tender offered me the most brilliant solution: expresso, coffee liquor, vermouth & vodka, which set me up for the rest of the afternoon and avoided us having to queue up again. Sorted! (Dalia’s drinking something else.)

Neither of us are petrol heads, but we did enjoy the sight of men tinkering with their cars, and spotting our favourite stationary ones and posing next to them!

If you’re into zoom, zoom vintage races, this is The annual event for sure and you could just spend the entire day at the race track. Personally, neither Dalia nor I could stand the noise and the crowds, but there is way more to do if you’re not into cars. Get your hair done, drink, eat & be merry, people watch or hit the shops! There are vintage stalls galore and I’m glad to report that Dalia bought a 50’s petticoat and I bought a wonderful 50’s style cardigan from my friends at Revival Retro, which I’ll share soon. Job done.

My highlight at Goodwood Revival is always looking at and admiring the wide range of vintage outfits people get dressed up in. Everyone’s into posing during Goodwood Revival so you never find anyone getting grumpy because you’re pointing a camera at them.
